Semester-based courses are a great option for on campus and off campus students with demanding schedules. These classes run on the same semester schedule as traditional UNL classes, but are available online. Admission to UNL is required, and these courses apply toward full or part-time enrollment for insurance and financial aid purposes.

- Online Courses with On-Campus Testing Required
These courses are intended for local students and can be found in the MyRED Class Search by choosing Additional Search Criteria, Mode of Instruction, Online Class On-Campus Testing.
- Online Courses with no On-Campus Requirement These courses can be used by both local students and students living away from campus and can be found in the MyRED Class Search choosing Additional Search Criteria, Mode of Instruction, Online Distance Class.
We offer a variety of courses from which you can select. Your individual situation will determine which course or courses are right for you. You should consult your academic adviser in your home college or department to determine if the course will meet the requirements of your degree.

Achievement-Centered Education (ACE)
Many semester-based courses fulfill Achievement-Centered Education requirements. Consult with your UNL adviser to verify what specific courses are needed for your degree program.

Some online courses require students to test on campus and on specific dates. For other online courses, off-campus students may need to secure a proctor for testing. See the course syllabus and announcements for testing information.

Textbooks and course materials for online courses are available through the University Bookstore.
Financial Aid
Online semester-based courses count for full- or part-time status for financial aid. Visit the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid for more information.
Semester-based courses follow the traditional UNL schedule, including registration periods. To see whether the course you’re looking for is offered during a given term, search for the course by using the UNL Schedule of Classes.
